These formulas, placed in conditional formatting works
great. highlight your intended cells and go to Format >
Conditional Formatting. there are two different ones, the
first does every other row and the second does every
three rows.
=MOD(ROW(),2)=0
=MOD(ROW()-1,6)<=2
