Quote marks, whether bars or >>> markes are used to identify previously included content in messages. These are generally added by
your email/message program on sending automatically. How/if you can change them will depend on what email program and version
you're using. In MS Outlook Express, for example,

How can I eliminate the vertical lines that appear on messages containing
images that are forwarded several times? The lines are objectionable to me
and others.
