How can I get common buttons, that I have created, on every page?

This is really starting to p*** me off now.

I want to create my own buttons and have them on every page - to link to all
child pages under the home page.

I can't use Interactive Buttons - they don't give me the right shape.

I tried using shared borders, but couldn't create my own buttons.
I tried using shared borders and importing a file, but couldn't get the
background right.
I tried using shared borders with a layer. didn't work.

I've tried using dynamic web templates, which is good, except for the
background; it takes the background from the template, and I want it to stay
the same as the individual page - otherwise I can't ever change the
background to match the subject!

I shouldn't be so difficult just to create a common border (as I want it),
superimposed on every page, but it seems Microsoft want to make it as
difficult as they possibly can.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I am not a guru with FP (in fact, I am quite a newbie really, only 6
months experience) but have you considered either creating your own theme
(with no common background) and including your own buttons, or modifying a
current theme?

Alternatively, you could try creating a shared border, create your own sets
of buttons with the link page wording on them and then insert them as
pictures and use the mouseover command -

or -

Alternatively, you could try creating a shared border, create your own sets
of buttons and then have a layer over the buttons with the page name and
mouseover commands.

I have used all three options during my learning curve and they have all
worked, although I expect that someone here will be able to tell you the
correct (and probably faster and cleaner) way to do this.

shared borders (from Format menu) or include page component (from Insert
menu)

You can create your own interactive buttons instead of using the built in ones
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555010
- just remember all images are rectangles/squares

Thanks for the replies. I haven't tried anything yet but will probably look
at the mouseover command at least, just wanted to say thanks.

Have you considered using the FP Include Page Component?
