How can I get send/receive to happen on application load?

Currently I load Outlook and then have to press send/receive to get
new emails. Can it be set so that this happens automatically upon
loading the application?

You failed to mention which version of Outlook you're running. My response may
not be applicable to your version.

In Outlook 2002, this feature is enabled by setting an automatic schedule for
send/receive. Here's a link that shows how to make this happen:
