how can I increase transition speed in my presentation

I am working with powerpoint 2000. I timed my slide presentation but when I
view it as a self running slide show there is an annoying delay between when
my title appears on the slide and when the body text follows, sometimes as
long as 6 seconds. I have applied different transition effects to both. Any
advice? Thanks

Animation effects actually control the title and body text appearance. You
might try changing those settings instead of the transition settings.

Transitions are what get you from slide to slide. Animations make things
appear on a slide. Does that help?

Hi Echo, thanks for responding. I used the incorrect term, it's the
animation effects that I applied that are slow then. ie I applied a
"horizontal blind" effect to my title text and a "disolve" effect to the body
text. These effects create a delay when loading. Does that make sense?

Ah, gotcha. People do sometimes get animations and transitions mixed up, and
it's hard to tell when we can't see the screen!

Did you add a time in the "automatically after" area when you applied the
blind and dissolve to the body text? If not, then I suspect it's just a
resources or video driver issue.

In that case, you can try changing your hardware acceleration as described
here:
How to set graphics hardware acceleration back
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00129.htm

You might also try updating your video card, and you should try running the
presentation without anything else running in the background. You can go to
Start|Run and type msconfig to get to where you can opt not to have a bunch
of programs load on startup. That often helps this kind of issue.

Also, do some basic hard disk maintenance -- search for and delete all *.TMP
files, empty your Temporary Internet Files folder, and run a defrag.
