How can I input a new activation/product key???

My trial version version for Microsoft office Home and Student 2007 recently
expired. My dad, however, bought the Home + student version last year. I
tried to input the same key, but it said it had already been used on too many
computers (it probably has, he has installed it many times on other PC's).
Anyway, I am buying my own version now for a new product key, but it will not
let me input my activation key anywhere. It still gives me the message that
the old key cannot be used. How can I erase this product key, and input my
own??? Any help is appreciated.

Uninstall the trial version including any activation wizard and reboot the
computer. Install your copy of H & S with the DVD that you have and then
the product key on the packaging will work.
