How can I insert a checkmark box in outlook

I would like to be able to add a check mark box in a appointment, task
or other item in Outlook.

I'm using outlook 2003 and I have figured out how to insert a checkmark
box in a email message by adding the form buttons to the toolbar,
however I can not check the box to add the form buttons to the toolbar
in appointments, tasks or journal items.
