How can I link a Visio shape to a word document? (non-Data type)

Looks like in Visio, Data (Excel, Access) files can be easily linked using
the Wizard.
I have couple of Word documents in 'My Documents' folder, which I want to
link to a Visio Shape in a .vss file.
Please show me how to do this. Thanks.

I'm assuming that you've placed a shape on a page in a Visio document. The
Visio doc when it's saved will be a vsd file. But, to your issue...

Select the shape of interest and then go to the menu bar > Insert and select
hyperlinks. If this is a local file, just browse for it in the Address cell.
There will be no sub-address. Say OK.

Unselect the shape. Mouse over it, and right click. The hyperlink will
point to the desired Word file. Selecting it will open the Word document.

The "Help" has good information, the usage is fairly straight forward. Look
for adding hyperlink to an existing shape

To add to the 'wrapperdude', if the word doc has bookmarks in it you can use
the subaddress to take you to the specific place in the document.

You want to put a link to a shape within a stencil into your Word
document? I don't think you can do this.
If this is the case then I'm wondering what you are trying to do.

I am trying to link to a bookmark in a word document using Visio 2003
Having selected the address ie word document, when I click on subaddress I
get an error message to say this is only possible in vsd file

Any suggestions
