How can I make my own sign

I need to creat multiple signs for different offices. they need to be 6"x 6"
with black backround and white lettering. (Font size differs)

I would not use Word, wrong application. Even PowerPoint would be better and
easier to control exactly what you want.

You might want to rethink the whole project... If you aren't using an ultra
high quality or commercial printer you'll most likely not get very
consistent coverage with that volume of black area.
