How can I manually create a project workspace in PS 2007?

Tim Burbage

I'm trying to manually create a project workspace in PS 2007. I go into
Server Settings, into Project Workspaces. The Create Site button is grayed
out. In Project Workspace Provisioning Settings I've made sure that "Allow
users to manually create project workspaces in Project Server." is selected.

I'm logged in with an account in the Administrators group. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Tim:

When you select the option to allow users to manually create Project
Workspaces, the system will prompt you to create a workspace each time you
publish the project, until you create one. So, you simply need to open the
project and publish it.

Thanks for the response Gary!

I am trying to customize a workspace site to use as a template for future
workspace sites. In a recent training class, Dale had mentioned to me that I
need to create a new one to customize, outside of the context of a new
project. If I just have a new site created for me with a new project, I
won't be able to use that customized site as a template for future workspaces.

That's a bit different. You can create a fresh Projet Workspace site that is
not attached to a project by simply using SharePoint menus. You do this from
the Site Settings menu you access from the top-level site where you
provision your workspaces. So, if your workspaces are provisioned under the
PWA site, then from the PWA home page select the Site Actions pick list menu
in the upper right and select Site Settings. On the site settings menu,
select Sites and Workspaces from the Site Administration menu. On the Sites
and Workspaces page, click the create button. I think you can handle it from
there.

Thanks Gary, I was making that a whole lot more difficult than it needed to be.

I created the site, modified it and saved it as a template. When I got into
Project Workspace Provisioning Settings, the template does not show up as an
option in the "Default Project Workspace template" drop down box. Any ideas?
