How can I not leave a copy of my email on the server?

my account is getting bogged down with large emails. i delete them from
outlook, but they are still on the server, preventing me from receiving
anything new once my go over my space limit.

Go into the Account settings in Outlook, click on More settings and on the
Advanced tab, uncheck the appropriate box...

If this is a POP account with some ISP, use their web mail interface to
connect to your mailbox, and delete some of the old messages you've left in
the mailbox.
