How can I open a .docx in Office 97?

Can the person who sent it to you do a "File, Save As?" I believe that's
your best option.

Hi Lucky,

AFAIK, you're out of luck. There is no docx converter for Word 97 and I doubt the one made for Word 2000-2003 would work with Word
97. Consequently, you'll need to get the file saved in the older Word 97-2003 format, or another '97-compatible format like RTF.

there is a word viewer that can
enable you to view docx documents
with out the 07 office:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...87-8732-48D5-8689-AB826E7B8FDF&displaylang=en

but basically, you would need to
users of 07 to save the documents
in an older format for your old
office.

another thing you can tryout
is the "open office" freeware

with it you can open and write
docx documents.

db good pickup.

The good thing about the newest version of Open Office, it could be used to
read the .docx file and SaveAs an Office 97-2003 format .doc file. Some of
the special features will be lost but it does work as I have tried it.
