Periodically (approximately once a month) Outlook downloads a second copy of
my email. This puts about duplicate 50 messages into my inbox. If I delete
all the second copies, but not both, the system thinks I have deleted them
all and when I go directly to my mail.com account all of my messages are gone
as I have Outlook set to delete when I empty the deleted items folder. This
is rather impractical and did not happen with older versions of Outlook. Is
there a setting that I am missing? I cannot imagine a setting which would
say to download everything from my account, again. I have noticed that it
happens sometimes shortly after a second Outlook window is opened, like the
junk email folder when it asks whether I would like to look at the folder -
but the last time it happened I closed the second window before the messages
were downloaded again.
