how can I print on a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" paper?

I'm trying to print on an invitation paper. I did the page setup, but can't
get it to set the paper size to print.

Word can only print what the printer driver will allow and most are poor
with custom page sizes. The simple answer is to set the page size to a
larger standard size and adjust the margins to make up the difference. Then
print on your smaller piece of paper (assuming the printer will physically
handle that size.)
