How can I put many existing Word files into folders?

I have created a huge number of files without putting them into folders. Now
I'm stumped on how to easily move them into new or existing folders. The
send to option does not work, and I have too many files to be able to drag
the file into the folder. In the end, I would like to have a couple dozen
folders that contain all my files. I am using XP.

While they may be Office documents, file management is related to
Windows rather than Office. But since you're here, moving them in some
way, such as by dragging, is really the only way you can do this
unless you're familiar with DOS commands. :)

Do you know how to group files? You can click the first file to be
grouped, hold Shift, and then click the last file in the group. Then
you can drag the group to a folder. Or, if you have a few files that
shouldn't be selected in the group, once they are selected, hold Ctrl
and click a file to deselect it. You can also hold Ctrl and click
individual files to select them instead of use the Shift key.

assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
