How can I save the pictures I created by using screen clipping?

I always use screen clipping in OneNote but I dont know how to save these
pictures in different formats like jpg, gif, etc. Can anybody help me on that?

Hi Ergun,

you can right-click the picture and pick copy. Then you can paste it into
your favorite image editor, e.g. Paint, and save it from there in any format
you desire and is supported by it. Paint itself supports jpg, gif and png,
so you should be fine with just using it.

Be nice if there was an export feature to "save as" a graphics file directly
from Onenote without having to go through the out/in/out steps using an
image editor.

A hidden trick: When you take a screen clipping, the screen clip is in the
clipboard. If you open PPT, you can do a paste onto a slide and you will see
your screen clip. Right click the image and select Save as Picture and you
can save in a wide variety of graphic formats.

It still takes a couple of more steps than just right clicking it from
OneNote, but it is much quicker than the obvious way....

Thanks for that.
But as you say it additional steps.

It would be great if one could just let a whole bunch of screen clippings go
into OneNote on their own and then later go in and export selected ones to
an image file that could be used elsewhere.

The OneNote team is definitely not short of ideas of new features for
OneNote. The team replied to a lot of feature suggestions in the beta
newsgroup that they had thought of it, wanted to do it, but just didn't have
the resources to do it. Simply put, they have a long wish list, but need to
prioritize it, because their resources have a limit.

Understood. My ramblings were more rhetorical than an actual feature request
or suggestion.

A workaround, certainly.
But isn't using PPT a bit of overkill?
And a bit too many steps too.

For things like that (and not only that <!>) I'm using "IrfanView" - a
truely fantastic piece of software for 1001 things handling images.
The best thing: It's freeware.

I'm having the whole Adobe CS Suite as well as Macromedia but if it
comes to easy things as pastuing from the clipboard, resizing images,
cutting off parts, converting formats etc. I just use the superfast
lightweight.

If you don't have it, RUN (not walk) to collect it:

Don't miss the plug-ins.
It's a great multimedia player too.

Yeah, it probably is overkill. And, yeah, I use Irfan view for this (or I
use SnagIt) just as often as PPT.

You're right.
There is this option in the context menu.
Still:
There is only *one* file format available. And no further options.
Pretty poor.
So in many cases the way through IrfanView will be worth it.

Interesting that you mention SnagIt too.
I'm using the latest version which really offers much, especially the
"Studio" which I often use for commenting images.
Wish it had "ink support" ...

Have you tried the Snipping Tool from the Education Pack (works on a
Tablet only)? It's pretty nifty and as far as I know built-into Vista.

Not from the "Education Pack".
This pack unfortunatly only runs on an *English* version of XP
TabletPC edition :-( :-(

But I got it the "Enhancement Pack".
Really nice.

For using clips from a screen in a productive way I have it send the
clip through SnapIt Studio, however.
