I am having a problem. I have users that save Outlook 2003 .msg files to the
server in various folders, and we need to be able to search for text within
that .msg file to find certain messages. I can't figure out how to get
Windows XP to conduct this search. Does anyone have a resolution for this
issue or any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi,
This is a strange situation indeed. A search for text with Windows2000
gives good results.

Windows XP does not, and especialy not when e-mail is saved with
drag&drop (or File | SaveAs) from Outlook.
Using mailtofile gives every msg file user properties as well. All
e-mail properties are easy to read by search engines or index services.

I checked the microsoft search engine on msg files and it works
properly. When you download MsgFilt.msi (from microsoft as well), you
will get direct information about recepients. And msg files archived
with mailtofile will give a short preview text.

Info about MS search engine: desktop.msn.nl
Info about mailtofile: www.mailtofile.com/en/
Info about the msgfilter:
