How can I search through help?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I'd like to search through help to get a list of functions, but when I open it I get a window with no search bar.

Click the capsular button at the right end of the Help window's Title Bar.

Oh wow. They really did that? Are they trying to make Excel less intuitive with each release?

If by "they" you mean Microsoft "they" haven't much to do with it :) That
unnamed, untagged, unidentified & virtually undocumented gizmo is an APPLE
device provided as a part of the OS X interface. Have a look at the title
bars in any of your application document windows, including Apple's...
Although it is conspicuously absent from Apple's Help windows.
