How can I stop Symantec from checking my outgoing email?

I am using Outlook to send email from one account. When I send email, a
Symantec box pops up and tries to check the email for viruses, but it never
happens and the sending of the mail is blocked. So I want Symantec on my
computer to stop checking this, but I'm not sure how. I believe that AOL
somehow loaded this Symantec thing onto my computer. Hints?

Open your Symantec/Norton Antivirus and see if you can disable mail scanning
from within the program. Or see if you can find any help on their support
pages as to why it isn't working.
