I have my Office CD-ROM in the drive, I run setup. but the advise the
Microsdoft gives on activating Macro support does not jibe with the screen
that come up in setup. Basically, I am trying to get Visual Basic to run.

Some additional info could be helpful to the helpers... Try providing
- OS version?
- Office version?
- Which options have you tried?
- Are you trying to run third party macros or making your own?
- What messages (if any) do you get?

Guessing your situation...
If you've installed MS Office with all components (hint, you need to do
a "Custom" install to get it all...) there may be a problem with
security settings. In Office 2003 try this (IIRC it's quite similar in
other Office versions):
In Word, select menu item "Tools - Macro - Security" and set the
security level to "Medium". That gives you a question each time you open
a document with potentially insecure macros.
