How can I unlock my DELETED ITEMS folder?

My DELETED ITEMS folder is locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it. If I delete an email from another folder, it goes to the deleted items folder, but if I click on the folder to see it's contents it shows no emails, although it indicates that there are emails in there waiting to be deleted. I accidently sent an email to this folder that I did not want to be deleted and now I can't retrieve it. Any suggestions??

Using Entourage v.X (10.1.6)

Make sure you don't have Unread Only or Flagged Only set on the View menu.

I hope you realize that Entourage X has been obsolete for many years and
that MS no longer supports it. If you use Entourage (or any other Office
app) regularly, you should really upgrade to the current version (Office
2008).

I do not have either Unread Only or Flagged Only set. I still can't access the emails in this folder.

Any other suggestions??

How do you know it's locked? AFAIK, you can't lock a folder in Entourage.

If you drag the Deleted Items folder to the desktop as an MBOX file, you can
create a new Identity in Entourage then drag the MBOX file into the folder
window. Do you see the messages in the new Identity?

Sorry, I misspoke, the folder was not locked, but had an email that I couldn't select to delete, move, etc. Also, newly deleted emails where unseen. To correct the problem I held the OPTION key when launching Entourage to rebuild the database. This compresses & re-indexes. The file went from 800 MB to 420 MB. It corrected the problem.
