How can I update just one page of my 40 pages website?

I have built a 40 pages website. After uploading to the web, how can I just
update one page in stead of need to upload the whole site?
Thanks

I don't think you can for the website is contained in the publisher file and
updates are by replacing not editing.

Unless your version is significantly different of uploading the website
files there isn't much different of uploading one file or 40 files.

From Publisher 2003 help (incremental publishing):

"In Publisher, incremental publish to the Web allows you to publish updates
to a previously published Web site quickly by publishing only those files
you have updated. For example, when you make changes to your Web site in
Publisher and then publish the updated version of your Web site to the Web
using the Publish to the Web command, Publisher will publish only those
changes you have made to your Web site, instead of republishing the entire
Web site. Incremental publish to the Web speeds up the task of updating your
Web site."

Incremental publishing is turned on by default under Tools > Options > Web
tab, but you should check it.

INW, it is confusing from your several recent posts about not being able to
print Publisher pages and using catalogue merge etc, just exactly what you
are doing. On one hand it appears that you are producing a print document,
and then you talk about a web document. Questions about print documents are
best posted in the main Publisher group.

If you are trying to create a dynamic on-line "store-front" or some such,
and hope to have your inventory changed on a regular basis, then you might
be asking too much of a Publisher web site. Publisher is intended for
relatively simple, small static sites...not large dynamic sites. You will
probably find Publisher too limited in the long run and might want to
consider moving to different software. I haven't seen a Publisher site where
someone has used catalogue merge with a web site, but that is not to say it
can't be done.

If you want to stay with Publisher incremental publishing might take care of
what you are wanting to do, but if you find it doesn't, you might want to
consider breaking up the site and building it with multiple Publisher files.
Produce the pages that will remain static with one Publisher file, and use
other Publisher files to build those pages, parts or sections of the site
that are dynamic. This way, even if you find that the incremental publishing
feature is not adequate to the task, you will have to upload only that part
of your site that has changed.

Personally, I just create additional subfolders on my web space for the
sections and web pages that I create with additional Pub files. I then go
ahead and use the default naming convention of index.htm etc.

Anyway, read the article and perhaps it will give you an idea of how to
structure your web directory and how you might use multiple Pub files to
produce your site, and more easily manage a larger site.

If it is a *simple* update such as spelling or something, I go to the web
site and edit the page. My host is a free site and does not have FTP and I
must upload 10 files at a time until all are there....a pita for sure.

Apparently I'm am working with medieval knowledge here. I think it best I
remain a reader and wait for the gathering around Stone Hedge to input my
stone carvings. Although I did provide a weak out in my post.

Naw...keep on posting. I am not convinced that the incremental publishing
feature is that dependable. Personally I almost always delete the old files
on my site before uploading new, though that is probably overkill for most.

I appreciate your participation and think your posts are helpful, Don.
