Can I design a form to work with Word so that a user types in the
information needed and it is then placed throughout a Word document?

Yes, you can! You could do something similar as to what I did in this article

No. The structure between Word 2003 and Word 2007 documents is different.
Word 2007 uses a new format which is called OpenXML. For more information see
