HOW can MS word97 and 2000 co-exist?

I have MS WORD (actually MS Office and a part of it is Word) 1997 installed
and also MS Office 2000.

I had MS Office 2000 first installed, but after I installed MS Office 97
they seemed to not like each other.

They are of course in separate Folders/directories, but on the same
partition F: on the same physical harddisk. I expect there are some entries
by both programs in the Registry which overlap and "fight" each other.

I have 2 other harddrive installed. Should I un-install one of the above and
re-install on the other physical harddrive? Or would it make no difference
since they would still be accessing the same registry?

I also wonder, is there a way to IMPORT the messages which are presently on
Outlook 2000 into Outlook 97? I saw no Import function in MS Outlook 97.

The operating system is Windows XP Pro.

Why did you install 97, old, unsupported, buggy, over 2000 (also old, but
less buggy)?

Uninstall both from add/remove programs. Install Office 2000 again.

You don't need to import - just open the PST file. But again, why would you
want to use Outlook 97 when you have 2000?

Two versions of Office cannot FULLY co-exist in a single boot system.
You would need to install each in a separate OS on the system, i.e., a
multiboot system on a PC.

Note that only 1 version of Outlook can be installed in each OS, so even if
you tried to install two Offices in one OS, you would only be able to have 1
Outlook.

I followed advice and un-installed MS Office 97 but now in MS 2000 all my
Inbox messages are gone.

Where can I find them?

Your calendar data, as well as messages, tasks, notes, contacts, etc. are
stored in a file with a .PST extension. Look here for all the information
you need on backup and restoration of Outlook data:

http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm

Search for *.pst on your hard drive, including hidden/system folders.
