How can one create facing (mirrored) page numbers

Firas

Dear All,

I am trying to create a document which will be printed in booklet format. Hence, I require that odd page numbers be place on the right side for example and even page numbers to be placed on the left side of the page.

How can that be done?

When searching for "facing page numbers" I got some tips of how to do that in publisher, but not in Word.

I would be grateful for any tips that you might have.
Oh, I am using Office 2003.

In Word, from the File menu, select Page Setup and then go to the Layout tab
and check the box for "Different odd and even" Headers and footers and then
set up the page numbers in the desired position in each of those headers or
footers.

You probably should also type the word "booklet" into the Help control in
the top right hand corner of the Word screen and then press Enter and you
will come up with a number of topics to do with creating booklets

Booklet for products and services

Create a right-to-left folded booklet

etc.etc.

The easiest way is to use Insert | Page Numbers and select the "Outside"
position, but this method puts page numbers in frames, which can sometimes
cause problems, especially if you want other text in the header/footer. A
better approach, as Doug suggests, is to check the box for "Different odd
and even" on the Layout tab of Page Setup. This gives you separate odd and
even headers and footers. Use paragraph alignment or the built-in tabs to
position the page number fields.

I'm not following you, Cindy. Under "Multiple pages" you can choose "Mirror
margins" and "Book fold." I assume "Mirror margins" is what you're referring
to since "Book fold" was never a check box. But merely selecting "Mirror
margins" doesn't automatically give you alternating page number placement.
And in fact "Mirror margins" doesn't work correctly with "Book fold" ("Book
fold" automatically gives you "Inside" and "Outside" margins, but they're
reversed), which is what the OP is probably going to need eventually anyway.
