How can you override†the resource hour/% allocation?

Is there any way to “override†the resource hour/% allocation so that the
resource’s capacity and calendar is not used? Basically, I’m trying to split
the hours 50/50 for the tasks that have two resources assigned. EPM,
however, is splitting the required work based on resource capacity. The
problem is that the hours become uneven- and most of the time, one of the
resources has less hours to apply to their timecard, so the “bucket†task
disappears prematurely from EPM…

Please advise.

Hi MK,

Project will always use the formula Work = assignment units * duration; so
no, there is no way to stop project using the assignment units value.

You can control how many hours of work are distributed to each user by using
the Task Entry form to apply resources to your tasks. Using other entry
methods comes up short here. The second part of your issue can be overcome
by training your users to adjust remaining work when assignments are running
over their projected hours.
