How can you turn a slide's animation on or off quickly?

Does anyone know how to turn slide animation off quickly in Powerpoint 2000? I have a complex slide build and don't want to lose it by unticking all the components - and then reselecting them all individually later. I also thought there used to be a way (shortcut key?) to skip the build during a slide show and have the full slide present on demand
