Hello Bev,

Could you please let us know more on your question?
Basically you can just create several tasks, do not link it and set u
whatever date for those tasks. These tasks will be parallel ones.

Deni

Hello Bev,

You've not given us much to go on -- so I'll toss out a few options.
When you create tasks, by default they will be scheduled for the
start date of the project. By creating links or predecessors and
successors, you will change the schedule for the task. So, if you
have several tasks which are a common predecessor, they will be
scheduled to occur at the same time. For example:
Task A is the Predecessor in a Finish to Start relationship with
both Task B and Task C. Because both Task B and Task C have a
Finish to Start relationship with Task A, they are both initially
scheduled to start on the same day.

A different scenario would be if you could not start Task B until
Task A was started -- then that would be a start to start
relationship.

Yet another scenario would be if you needed to ensure that Task B
did not finish until Task A finished -- that would be a Finish to
Finish relationship.

So, the short answer is you create parallel tasks by creating
predecessor and successor relationships that correctly express the
schedule you desire.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

What if you want to tasks to occur simultaneously - I.e. an SS & FF together?

I want to represent the fact that test scripts need to be written at the same time as the detailed technical spec for system. however the test script task is a single task and the detailed technical spc has 30 sub tasks, each with a different predecessor.

Ideally I would like to link the test script task to the detailed technical spec header task by putting something like 85PA in the predecessor column (PA standing for Parallel) PA is a made up shortcut, but does anyone know the real abbrev for this action?...

Thanks!

Anyone has any advice?

I have tried 5SS, 8FF for my task to start running when task 5 starts,
and run in parallel and finishes together with task 8; but this
doesn't seems to work. My task just stick to the 8FF.
