How delete photo files from one location only, not whole gallery?

How do I remove photos selectively from one folder in the Windows Photo
Gallery (Vista) without deleting them from the entire gallery? Some of my
photos accidentally ended up in the wrong folder, and I can't get them out of
that folder without entirely deleting them. Also, the same is true of photos
dragged onto the desktop. They can't be deleted from the desktop without
deleting them from the gallery too. Help!

Perhaps the folks over in the Vista group could help you. This isn't
something that's controlled by any of the applications in MS Office.
