I use Outlook Express. I would like to use the Outlook in my Office 2003.
Will this be a big task to make the change?

I have Windows XP Professional (with Service Packs 2 & 3) and Office XP
Professional (version 2002 & Post-SP3 Update).
Everything else functions perfectly (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) but I cannot
open Outlook. [ "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Unable to display the
related folder or item. Could not open the item.Try again.]
Outlook Express works just fine.
If I am to try to enter all the info currently used in my Outllok Express
account, to get to Outlook, will that deactivate Outlook Express and
conceivably leave me with no Email at all?
Help !
Thanks very much.

it
intimidating indeed, judging from all the messages that get posted buy
people who run into probllems when they try.
First, completely configure Outlook so that it works. Start in Control
Panel's Mail applet. Click Show Profiles, then Add. Name your profile.
Use the Data Files button next to create a PST (if you're going to use a
PST
and a POP mail client), then the E-Mail Accounts button to create an
account
and select your delivery location (usually the PST you created in the
priot
step). STart Outlook to make sure it works. Them use File>Import and
Export>Import Internet Mail and Addresses to import your rules and
contacts
from Outlook Express. DO NOT import the messages. Instead, after
inporting
the other data, close Outlook and start Outlook Express and use
FIle>Export>Messages to transfer your mail. If you have multiple
identities, you'll have to do one identity at a time, changing the
default
identity each time.

Configure OL via the Mail Applet in the Control Panel - Configure the type
of connection (Not Exchange),Add a data file, add accounts & test.
If you then in OE export your msgs to OL, and within OL Import your
addresses, you will be good to go.
NB if after all this you open OE, assuming your accounts in OE are still
active, OE will receive mail.

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm a little weak on "data file" (is this just
any new folder I'm creating?) and "accounts".
Thanks very much.
