how do i color code entries in the calendar--say a 3 block travel period? all
i can find is busy, tentative, etc. and when i print they come in black. i
used to be able to choose a color for each member of family and tell who had
what activities that way.

I assume you're talking about Outlook. I think this ability was added in
Outlook 2003. Right-click an event and expand Label. Or, when creating an
event, set the Label dropdown to the desired color.

It was added initially in Outlook 2002, improved in 2003, and made finally
actually usable for real life in 2007, to be released for retail next year.
