how do I activate office 2003 by internet, rather than phone

P

papacradd

when I tried to activate my office 2003 student and teacher edition I
received a message stating that the activation wizard could not detect an
internet connection, although I was connected at the time and use microsoft
recommended products. ie : m/s windows xp home; outlook express and internet
explorer. On seeking an explanation via the help menu, all I could find was
the suggestion that I should phone Microsoft customer service by phone.

As this appears to be an American phone no.,I object to making an expensive
phone call, when I have a working internet connection. It appears that
Microsoft is playing the " big Brother " game again!!

Can anyone suggest how I can sort this problem?

No, you're playing the 'I'm a stupid idiot for not clicking the arrow next
to the drop down menu and choosing my country" game again...

saw this post about the student/teacher edition - here's my question:

my daughter is a 6th grade teacher and I'm thinking about obtaining the
Student Teacher version of Office 2003. A couple of questions:

I believe as a family member I qualify but what if she decides to quit
teaching at the end of this year (and start a family!).
Do I have to submit her teacher's employment verification, state license
number or something else when purchasing? Not sure I want to give all that
stuff to Microsoft, but maybe that's what I have to do?

Does this version differ from the regular Office 2003 - there is a big price
difference but I want to make sure I don't get a stripped down version.

sorry, but I'm new to all this stuff.

Thanks.
