Spelling problems in North Dakota

I have been having problems with my spell check on Microsoft Office Word
2007. It doesn't check any spelling errors. I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling Office, but that didn't seem to help. Does anyone have any
ideas about what could be wrong? I would really appreciate the help.

When no spelling errors are hit, even when obvious mis-spellings are typed
in, this usually indicates that the text has "Do not check spelling and
grammar" applied.
Best way is to select all (Ctrl+A), Review, Proofing, Thesaurus select the
language you want, deselect the "Do not check spelling and grammar" (not sure
of exactly how it is in 2007 as I use 2003).
Hope this helps

I looked at the post that you had mentioned, and it doesn't apply to me
because I don't have vista. Do you have any other suggestion?

D

DeanH

Well I am glad the other posting does not affect you.
Did you try the first suggestion?
What exactly are you experiencing?
Mis-spelt words not being hit by the spellchecker. This is a document issue
so reinstalling will not help.

What do you mean by a document issue? I have tried the first suggestion and
that didn't help. I have misspelled words just to see if they would be
caught, and they weren't caught. What can I do to help with the document
issue?

Have you tried selecting the entire document and making sure that the check
box for "Do not check spelling or grammar" is completely cleared for the
entire selection?

I have tried that and have had no luck.

Have you tried the Registry solution?

If no custom spell checker is installed on the computer, exit Word, and then
delete/rename the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\ProofingTools\1.0\Override\en-US

How do you get to the place for the registry key change? I have never done
anything like this before.

Start, Run (Winkey+R) and type in

rededit

and press enter which launches the registry editor utility. Be absolutely
sure that you delete the correct item.

I couldn't find the Registry key that was stated. I have been looking for it
and was unable to find it.

If it doesn't exist then, unfortunately, that's not where your spelling
issue lies.

Have you tried verifying your Language Settings? Exit Word and go to
Start/All Programs/Microsoft Office/Microsoft Office Tools/Microsoft Office
2007 Language Settings and verifying the Primary Editing Language is correct
and your desired proofing language is in the Enabled list? If so you might
try the following:

- Set another primary editing language (any will do)
- Click OK to apply it
- Open the Language Settings again and set your preferred language as the
Primary Editing Language

Apparently having the EXACT same problem, I found this thread. I uninstalled
and reinstalled Office 2007. I looked for the Registry key, but didn't have
it. I changed the Language settings as advised, but that didn't help. I'm
at my wit's end. No matter what, I have no Spell Check in Office 2007.
