How do I add identities on Outlook 2000?

M

Melissa

I have got two email accounts but want them both to come to the same user
profile. I beleive you can do this on Outlook Express by adding an
'Identity', but is there a similar function on Outlook 2000? Please Help!
Thanks

Outlook uses profiles, not identities. Please post your mode of Outlook -
see Help->About, second line should say either Internet Mail Only or
Corporate or Workgroup.

I have the same situation as "Melissa" except that I have (or had) seven
separate email identities in my OE6. My Outlook mode says Internet Mail Only.

I have been unable to find any profile information by the "I never need to
stop and ask for directions" method, or by searching Outlook Help, both on my
puter and on the web.

I just installed Outlook 2000, but I've been using OE since I installed
Office Pro 2k about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Thanks for your help!

Go to Control Panel and open the "Mail" icon. You can create and delete
Profiles there.

No you can't.
He said he was using Internet Mail Only mode. It does not use profiles. User
must create separate Windows User Account to have separate Outlook
configurations.

Not for Outlook 2000 in Internet Mail Only mode, which is what the OP said
he weas using in the message to which you replied.

So each Windows User Account will have its own calendar, database, etc.?
Does creating separate user accounts only mean that Outlook will need to be
closed and restarted?
Is it possible to change the Outlook mode to Corporate or Workgroup so that
multiple profiles could exist without restarting Windows?

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question. What I want to know is what's the best
way to set up multiple Outlook Express 6 email identities in Outlook 2000?
And maybe a couple of opinions on whether switching to Outlook is worth the
hassle...

Thanks.

Your choice. Read about the difference between the two modes and decide
which features are most important for you:

Yes.

Are you talking about using XP's Fast Switching between the accounts? There
shouldn't be a problem, if each account uses a separate profile.

I think so. The last time I did it, I don't recall having to restart
Windows.

You can't set up Outlook Express identities in Outlook. Identities are
strictly an Outlook Express artifact.
