How do I add more than one design template to my powerpoint

In XP or '03: If the presentation is complete, select the slides you want to be affected by the new design; or,if you are just starting the series of slides you want covered by the new design, open a new slide. Have the "slide design" pane open and browse to bring up the new (second) design you want so it appears in the design template thumbnails. Right-click the new design, and left-click on "apply to selected slide" or something to that effect. That should do it. (If you go into the slide master view, you'll see both slide designs.)
There may be a way to do this from the slide master view, but I've never figured out how to do it that way....
