How do I animate a phrase within a paragraph in Power Point?

I know how to animate a paragraph or bulleted item, but is it possible to
animate a phrase within a paragraph?

I am using PowerPoint 2003.

Just highlight the phase and add effect rather than adding the effect when
you click on the textbox.

Apology, misunderstood your question.
If you want to animate a phase in a paragrah, the best way would be to add
the phase on a separate textbox.
