How do I animate an object (custom path) in PowerPoint?

I am trying to make a tiger walk across the slide. I remember doing this in
the earlier PowerPoint programs. Can it still be done, and if so how?

Insert the tiger, place it just off the right of the slide, set custom
animation to Crawl from left. It will move slowly from left to right off the
slide.
Or, if you have PPT 2002/2003, you can use a motion path animation.
