Hi

try
tools / options / view and untick formulas

the other option is that your cells have been formatted as text
select a blank cell in a new worksheet / workbook and copy it
select the misbehaving cells and choose edit / paste special - add

Maybe a bit more detail will help.

If you press =, then you are entering a formula.
anyway to let it come out as cell name (ie =D5 at D20 cell)

If you want an = sign in a cell(?), you can insert it by pressing '=, to
enter it as text. So if you type '=D5 in D20, it will show =D5.
If you are in cell D20, and you want it to be equal to the value of D5, you
are doing the right thing. Press = and then click on D5. D20 will then show
the value of D5.
