how do i assign a list box value to a variable?

I am trying to assign the value within a list box (which was populated from a
query) to a variable. Any suggestions would be helpful.

We need a little more information. 1) Is the listbox set for "single select"
or "multi select"? Are you trying to transfer the value of a selected item
or just an item in a certain row and column?
