When sending an e-mail with a confidential attachment,( in word) how do I
assign a password to that attachment?

Before you make it an attachment. Open the file, File, Save as, Tools,
Security Options.

password to open, then DO NOT FORGET the password, because it
will be very difficult (if not impossible) open or gain access to
the password-protected document. Password-protect the Word

Thank you for reminding me that I would have to remember the password, but m
question was how to you assign a passoword or password protect the document
you are attaching to the e mail? I know not to forget the password and would
keep a record of it.

You have to password protect the document BEFORE you attach it to the
e-mail. As to how. In Word, press F1, look up Password, click the link,
and follow the instructions.
