How do I autocalculate a single number?

I am working on an assignment for school and I am being asked to calculate
the average, maximum and minimum of a single number. It says to use the
autocalculate button. I am having difficulty with this task. Any assistance
would be appreciated. Thank you, Crystal

very odd question as the average, maximum and minimum of a single number is
the number itself !?!?

taking a guess as to what the question is really about - in ver 2002 and
above the Autosum icon (looks sort of like an E) has a drop down arrow next
to it, where you can choose from a number of different functions - in
version 2000 and prior this functionality isn't here and you only can use
the E for summing figures

however, there is also an autocalculate function which lives on the bottom
right of the screen ... down on the status bar - but this only works if you
select 2 numbers ... try this, select any two numbers on your worksheet and
have a look at the bottom right of the screen you should see the word SUM
and a value, now right mouse click on this and you have Average, Min, Max
amongst other things.
