How do I automatically view attachments in the view pane window

I have just switched to Outlook from Outlook express. I want to be able to
view incoming and outgoing attachments in the viewing pane window - as you
can do in Outlook Express. At the moment I can see that I have them but in
order to view them I have to open them individually in another programme.
Surely you must be able to view them more easily. Advice much appreciated as
this is driving me nuts!!

Different programs, different paradigms. You can't view attachments in
Outlook's Reading Pane.
