how do i begin 2 SEPARATE documents in 2 columns on the same page?

the column function in the toolbar is not what i mean -- it will continue
the text from the left column to thr right on the same page.
i want to have 2 documents run side by side for numerous pages.

There is no practical way to do this in Word, at least not if you're talking
about having separate documents on facing pages. If the documents are
side-by-side on the same page, you can use a borderless two-column table,
but don't let a single row go on too long; try to find a break point at
least once on each page, and split the table wherever possible as well, as
Word doesn't really like long tables and especially doesn't like long
single-row tables.
