How do I change a background to a watermark?

Brittney Craig

For a project in my Sales and Merchandising class, we are desiging a
Powerpoint presentation for a business analysis of a company. My teacher
suggested turning the background into a watermark to make the text easier to
read. I searched for an answer, and nothing returned. Could someone please
lend their insight to this dilemma? Any help would be much appreciated.

Brittney,
If you inserted the picture as your background, you can't do this directly
in PPT. If that is what you are doing, you will need to use a graphics
program to lighten the picture to where you want.
For PPT versions 2002 and later:
If you can instead put the picture in as an element behind all the other
slide elements, you can right click, go to format picture then to the first
tab. Change the transparency to a higher number and see if that does what
you want.

You can also try this:
Right click on the picture, click format picture.
Go to the picture tab, then set the brightness to 90% and contrast to 10% if
it is on white background. If the background is darker, have the brightness
set to 45-55%.
