How do I change an action button's screen tips?

Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me - I can't seem to have screen tips
AND action settings for an End Show action.

I independently stumbled on this same bug. Like FF Mike, I'm trying to
integrate multiple presentations, and therefore need the advanced controls of
actions settings. (I'd also like to have it compatible with Powerpoint Viewer
2003.) Unlike FF Mike, I'm trying to use action settings to end a subshow,
and have screen tips to describe the button.

It doesn't work: it seems all or nothing on my system. I can apply edit a
hyperlink and add screen tips, but as soon as I add action settings to get my
End Show, I lose my screen tips (even with highlight click turned off as
recommended) and cannot edit them again. And I'm using a plain old rectangle
as a test control - nothing fancy like grouped graphics or action buttons.

Any help? I'm trying to use graphical buttons, so the screen tips are
valuable to understand what the control does. Also I'd prefer to break this
large 300-400 slide set into multiple programs, to avoid problems of losing
links and to expedite the linking process. I'd like to end the sub-show so I
don't have more than 2 running (main and 1 sub) at any given time.

Thanks Echo...maybe somewhere there's a FAQ on how to use this (or other)
newsgroups, when to post a link to a web version. Plus I had inadvertently
failed to read page two of postings, my bad. I had checked PPTMagician's
tutorial, however, so guess I'm doing something right.

Appreciate any input.

I think Steve's probably nailed it. Some action settings are hyperlinks and
can have screen tips, others aren't.

Hm. I wonder if you could use a transparent donut or other object around the
edge of the action button and have that show the screen tip? Or maybe a
transparent object underneath the action button? Just thinking aloud -- I've
no idea if it would really work well.

Anyway, regarding the newsgroups, there's a Help file, but it doesn't really
give you the kind of information that would help in this case. I think
searching for stuff in the groups is a great idea, but the web interface
doesn't give you any warning that if you post your question to an old
thread, people on the web interface may not see it, and people using NNTP
may not be able to see the original thread. I guess that would be pretty
discouraging, though, if you're trying to post a question! So probably it's
easier to just rely on us NNTP users to say something when we can't see the
rest of the thread and feel we might need to. (Sometimes we don't need to.)

You might want to try using an NNTP newsreader instead of the web interface.
If you have Outlook Express installed, clicking this link will set up the
PPT newsgroup in it. news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.powerpoint
It also sets up the Microsoft news server, so you can subscribe to other MS
product newsgroups if you want. Just right-click where it says
msnews.microsoft.com in the list on the left and choose "newsgroups." If
this link doesn't work from within the web interface, copy it into an email
message and email it to yourself, then click it.

You can also search the groups using Google Groups (that's how most of use
NNTP users search). Go to Google, click Groups, then click Advanced Groups,
and you'll be here: http://groups.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en Use
microsoft.public.powerpoint in the Group box if you want to limit your
search to the PPT group. Use microsoft.public.* if you want to search all
groups on the microsoft.public. newsserver. Use microsoft.public.*excel* if
you want to search, for example, all microsoft.public groups with Excel in
the name.

I could not ask a question so I thought I would just reply with my question.
I select Actions choose run a program. The program runs, but then does not
allow the the presentation to advance to the next screen. Is the a way to
mouse click run a program and then advance to another screen?
