how do i change default ruler view in word

I recently upgraded from an older version of word to 2003 with the arrival of
a new computer. The problem i have is when i open my documents it word the
text appears to have shrunk. The format is correct and the printer output is
exactly the way i want it. It appears that there is now far too much space
to the right of my page. I want the text spread out to the full with of the
viewable area witout having to use the zoom tool to magnify to 150%. The
documents appear perfect at 100% zoom on my computer in work which is the
exact same model and size screen.

Is the issue perhaps just that you need to switch from Normal to Print
Layout view? Or, if your new computer is running at a higher resolution, you
may need to increase the Zoom; it doesn't necessarily bear any relation to
actual size.
