How do I change my status for an accepted calendar event?

If I accept an invite and it goes to my calendar, how do I later change my status and notify the inviter? I don't have "accept/tentative/decline" buttons available in the calendar items.

For example I want to decline a specific invite in a recurring event, but only "delete" is possible and this does not seem to notify the organizer.

Or I might want to change my status from "accept" to "tentative" and I don't see how to do this either.

This is not a feature of Entourage 2004 but is now a feature in
Entourage 2008.
