How do I change scanned object from negative to positive?

I scanned some objects from microfilm that was originally in negative mode,
but when I scanned them, I changed the mode to positive, and that's what
showed up on the screen, so I thought when it copied to CD it would be in
positive mode, but it is still in negative mode. Is there a way I can change
it using MS office picture manager or any other program.

Try something like Irfanview. Free download from the author on the internet.
