How do I change the default association of .jpg files?

Seems simple enough - but how do I change the default program that opens up
..jpg's. I apparently let Gimp reassign .jpg's to it, but it is a slow-moving
beast when all I want to do is quickly view a map or other simple .jpg
document.

Thanks,
Kelly

Hello --
You can also go into your Windows Explorer window, select Tools/Folder
Options/File Types. Find .jpg in the list, then choose what program opens
them by default.

Hope this helps...

Or
In the program you want to be the default viewer, look in its Tools/Options
for a place you can select what it is the default for. IrfanView is quite
good at this.

Hi

I got this problem on a terminal server 2003 with office xp uninstalled and
office 2007 installed. File type assocciations for .jpg / .gif / .bmp are not
(!) set to office picture manager.
If I set it under Tools/Folder Options/File Types it's only set for the
actual user. If I login with another user it not set for him.

Could you please tell me, if there is a workaround to configure these
associations for all users on this server as a default setting?

kind regards,
Juerg

You set Office Picture Manager for the file types that you want it to
handle instead of letting the Default image viewer handle them. That
option is found within Picture Manager under Tools, File Types. Anything
NOT checked there, will be handled by whatever program the User has set
as their Default in the Folder Options.
