How do I change the default language of comments?

How do I change the default language of comments that I add? I don't want to
set the language for each comment.

Sorry - not a good question from me... Let me try again:

When I add "Comments" in a Word document (Insert -> Comments; or on Track
Changes menu), the default language of these comments (i.e. in the
speechbubbles, for instance) is English (US), despite the fact that the
language of the document itself might be something else (e.g. Afrikaans).

Is it possible to set the default language for all Comments to, say,
Afrikaans?

I have a similar problem with English vs Turkish: document text is almost
always in English while the comments are frequently in Turkish. Once you've
begun writing a comment, the formatting in effect at that time remains in
effect for the entire comment and you can't change it easily with keystrokes
etc while you're writing. You have to go back and make changes by
highlighting etc. This is a real annoyance. In my case I solve it by
switching language keyboards (left-alt + left shift) immediately *before*
beginning to write the comment. Another method is to paste (control-V)
something--even a blank space, line feed etc--formatted in the target
language (in your case Afrikaans) before you start to write the comment. In
either case, the comment editor (or whatever) picks up the language at the
beginning and the rest of the comment will be formatted in that language.
The same applies to any other formatting--italics for example--by the way.

Change the language in the Comment Text style.

You should be able to set the language in the "Comment Text" style. By
default Comment Text is set to be hidden from the Styles lists so,

in the Styles Task Pane select "Custom" from the dropdown at the bottom, and
then click on the "Styles..." button

Select "Comment Text" from the list of Styles (you may have to change the
Category dropdown at the top to All Styles first)

Select Modify
Click on Format and select Language
Choose Afrikaans and OK your way out.
